Grapes on Vine Hot Water Bag Cover:
Advanced knitting project for luxury yarn
Materials: 3 balls Jo Sharp Alpaca Silk Georgette or Eki Riva Alpaca Supreme
1 pair 3.25mm knitting needles
cable needle
Size: to fit standard hot water bag
Tension: 25sts to 10cm over stocking stitch using 3.25mm needles
Abbreviations:
rib: K1, P1
yfwd: yarn forward
MS: (K1, P1, K1) all into next stitch
Cr2L: slip 1 stitch onto cable needle at front, P1, K1 from cable needle
Cr2R: slip 1 stitch onto cable needle at back, K1, P1 from cable needle
Cr3L: slip 2 stitches onto cable needle at front, P1, K2 from cable needle
Cr3R: slip 2 stitches onto cable needle at back, K2, P1 from cable needle
Cr4L: slip 2 stitches onto cable needle at front, P2, K2 from cable needle
Cr4R: slip 2 stitches onto cable needle at back, K2, P2 from cable needle
Instructions: make 2 -
Cast on 68sts.
Row 1: P6, then work 1st row of Grapes on Vine pattern as set (see below) to last 6sts, P6.
Cont. working 6 purl sts at either end of odd rows, and 6 knit sts at either end of even rows.
Work 3 complete patterns, then pattern rows 1 through to 14 only.
Work 2 rows K1, P1 rib.
Next row (make ribbon holes): rib3 sts, *yfwd, K2tog, rib4*, repeat from * to * to last 3sts, rib3.
Cont in K1, P1 rib until ribbing measures 6cm from holes.
Cast off in rib.
To make up: sew sides and base of the two pieces together. Thread twisted cord or ribbon through the holes to fasten.
Grapes on Vine Pattern Instructions:
Panel of 14sts on reverse stocking stitch (stitch count varies on some rows)
Row 1 (RS): P3, Cr3L, P4, K1, P3.
Rows 2, 4, 16 & 18: K all K sts and P all P sts.
Row 3: P4, Cr4L, P1, Cr2R, P3.
Row 5: P3, K1, P2, Cr4L, P4.
Row 6: K4, P2, K4, MS, K3
16 sts.
Row 7: P2, (K1, P3) twice, Cr3L, P3. Row 8: K3, P2, K4, MS, P3tog, MS, K2
18sts.
Row 9: P1, (K1,P3) 3 times, Cr3L, P2.
Row 10: K2, P2, K4, MS, (P3tog, MS) twice, K1
20sts.
Row 11: (K1, P3) 4 times, K2, P2.
Row 12: K2, P2, K4, P3tog, (MS, P3tog) twice, K1
18sts.
Row 13: P1, (K1, P3) 3 times, Cr3R, P2.
Row 14: K3, P2, K4, P3tog, P1, P3tog, K2
14sts.
Row 15: p3, k1, p4, Cr3R, P3.
Row 17: P3, Cr2L, P1, Cr4R, P4.
Row 19: P4, Cr4R, P2, K1, P3.

Row 21: P3, Cr3R, (P3, K1) twice, P2. Row 22: K2, MS, P3tog, MS, K4, P2, K3

Row 23: P2, Cr3R, (P3, K1) 3 times, P1.
Row 24: K1, MS, (P3tog, MS) twice, K4, P2, K2
20sts.
Row 25: P2, K2, (P3, K1) 4 times.

Row 27: P2, Cr3L, (P3, K1) 3 times, P1.

Repeat these 28 rows.

Child's Footy Scarf:
Easy knitting project for 8ply wool yarn
Materials: Heirloom Merino Magic - 3 balls main colour, 1 ball contrast colour
1 pair 4mm knitting needles
Size: approx. 14cm wide x 150cm long (excluding fringe).
Tension: 22sts to 10cm over stocking stitch using 4mm needles
Instructions: Using 4mm needles and main colour cast on 40 stitches.
Pattern : K2 *P1,K1, repeat from * to end.
Repeat this row to form pattern.
Work in pattern for 10 rows in main colour, 10 rows contrast, 10 rows main, 10 rows contrast.
Change to main colour and continue in pattern until work measures 132cm.
Next row: change to contrast colour and continue in pattern working 10 rows, then 10 rows main colour, 10 rows contrast, 10 rows main colour.
Cast off.
Trim ends with a fringe if desired.
NOTE: If your favourite team sports more than two colours you will need a stripe of the third colour at each end of the scarf. Either add an additional stripe or substitute one of the existing stripes for the third colour. If, for example you follow the Saints, you could stripe as follows -
10 rows black (main colour)
10 rows red
10 rows black
10 rows white
Then main colour (black) until 132cm.
Knit stripes in reverse order at other end.

Ankara:
Turkish stitch scarf in pure cashmere
Intermediate knitting project for pure cashmere yarn
Materials: 2 balls Lana Gatto Prestige 100% Cashmere 
1 pair 6mm needles
wool needle to sew in ends.
Size: 15cm wide x 130cm long
Abbrev: wrn - wind yarn around needle to make a stitch
sl - slip stitch onto needle without knitting it
psso - pass slipped stitch over
Instructions: Cast on 26 stitches.
Pattern: K1, *M1 (wrn), sl1, K1, psso*, K1.
This row form pattern. Work in pattern until length desired.
Cast off loosely. Use wool needle to sew in ends.

Family Scarf in Fi Fi
Pattern for beginners in chunky yarn
Patons Fi Fi is a fast to knit chunky yarn, which is great for beginners. This simple pattern produces sophisticated looking results, as the colour twist within the yarn itself gives the finished scarf a stunning flecked appearance.
Sizes:
Toddler: 12cm wide x 100cm long
Child: 14cm wide x 120cm long
Adult: 14cm wide x 150cm long or length desired.
Materials:
Patons Fi Fi shade 4 Green: 3(4, 5) balls
Panda Feltable Wool shade 160 Cream: 1(1, 1) ball
Heirloom Merino Magic shade 235 Grass: 1(1, 1) ball
1 pair 10mm knitting needles
Crochet hook for fringing
Instructions:
Using Patons Fi Fi and 10cm needles, cast on 14(18, 18) stitches.
1st row: *K1, P1, repeat from * to end.
Repeat 1st row until work measures 100(120, 150)cm or length desired.
Cast off. Weave in ends.
Fringe: at both cast on and cast off edges:
Working with 1 strand of each of Merino Magic and Panda Feltable Wool together cut 2 strands of yarn twice the desired length for the finished fringe.
Keeping strands together, fold yarn in half and draw the loop through stitch at the end of the scarf. Use a crochet hook to pull ends through the loop and tighten. Repeat this process along both ends of the scarf.

Pattern for beginners in chunky yarn
Size: narrow or wide
Materials: Narrow - 4 balls Gusto
Wide - 5 balls Gusto
Instructions: Cast on 21 (29) sts.
1st row - *K1, P1, rep. from * to last st, K1.
2nd row - P1, *K1, P1, rep. from * to end.
Repeat these 2 rows until length desired.
Cast off.

Materials: 1 ball 12ply brushed mohair
1 pair 4.5mm needles
1 pair 5.5mm needles
Instructions: Using 4.5mm needles, cast on 82 stitches.
K2, P2, rib for 12 rows.
Change to 5.5mm needles and continue in rib for 28 rows.
Next row: K2, P2tog to end of row.
Rib 3 rows.
Next row: K3tog to end of row.
Fasten off. Sew up seam.

4 balls brushed mohair 12ply
Instructions: cast on 50 stitches.
Row 1: K2, P2 rib.

Throw Rug in Luxury Mohair
Easy knitting project for mohair yarn
Materials: 12 balls Luxury Mohair 8ply Main Colour (MC)
2 balls Luxury Mohair 8ply Contrast Colour (CC)
1 pair 4mm knitting needles
Size: 90cm x 120cm
Instructions -
Using CC, cast on 198sts and knit (garter stitch) 12 rows.
Next row: using CC, K9, change to MC and knit to last 9sts, change to CC and knit to end.
Repeat this row until work measures 116cm from beginning.
Using CC, knit 12 rows to correspond with other end.
Cast off.

Mobile Phone Cover
Easy project for pure wool knitting yarn
These nifty little numbers make great gifts for family and friends. Great fundraisers too! Weighing in at a tiny 10 grams each, cost per unit is $1.20. We've seen similar in the shops for $15 or more. These mobile phone covers will fit most standard sized phones: for phones with larger screens, such as IPhones, you may need to add a few stitches to the pattern to make it wider.
Materials:
8ply Color Works - small amount of main colour and 3 contrast colours
4mm needles
Wool Needle
Rib Pattern:
1st row: K2, *P1, K1, rep from * to last st, K1.
2nd row: K1, *P1, K1, rep from * to end.
These 2 rows form rib pattern.
Instructions:
Using MC cast on 29 stitches.
In MC, work 4 rows rib pattern (Pink in picture).
Change to C1 and work 2 rows (Yellow).
Change to C2 and work 2 rows (Purple).
Change to C3 and work 2 rows (Green).
These 10 rows form stripe pattern.
Working in rib pattern throughout, repeat stripe pattern until work measures 12cm from beginning. Cast off loosely in rib.
To make up:
Fold work in half lengthwise and sew along side and across bottom of work.

Materials: 1 ball Heirloom Cotton 8ply 1 pair 4.00mm needles
Instructions: Using 4.00mm needles, cast on 19 sts.
1st row: *K1, P1, repeat from * to end of row.
Next row: K1, *yfwd, K2tog, repeat from * to end of row. Repeat 1st row until work measures 19cm from beginning.
Next row: K1, *yfwd, K2tog, repeat from * to end of row. Repeat 1st row 4 times.
Cast off.
Thread twisted cord or ribbon through holes to make drawstring.

Easy knitting pattern for pure alpaca yarn
Materials:
1 ball 100% Alpaca 8 ply
or
1 ball Merino Magic 8 ply
1 pair 3.25 mm needles
1 pair 4.00 mm needles
Instructions:
Cast on 80 stitches using 3.25mm needles.
Work 6 rows stocking stitch.
Change to 4mm needles.
Work 12 rows stocking stitch.
Work 24 rows garter stitch.
Decreasing:
1st row: K8, K2tog across row.
2nd row: Knit.
3rd row: K7, K2tog across row.
Continue decreasing until 8 stitches remain.
Break off yarn and thread through remaining stitches. Draw up tightly and fasten securely.
Join seam.
To make a size larger: add 10 stitches.
